This is a comic based on the saying, “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck then it is a duck.” But with the colorful North American painted turtle. It is based on when I told someone about the photographs I took of them, including the one I used to make this illustration.
JWST Stephan Quintet

The Stephan Quintet was one of the first images released by NASA following the extensive calibration and testing phase of the James Webb space telescope. It showed the impressive resolving power of the enormous primary mirror. This comics has a little fun with it.
Great Regret

Cataclysms, especially caused by asteroid impacts, are among my favorite comic topics. I also enjoy the idea that the only survivors would be cockroaches. This cockroach expresses what it was hoping for rather than an impact.

Benjamin Franklin was a pivotal American hero. One of the Founding Fathers, an accomplished polymath, and creator of institutions such as public libraries and fire departments. There is a famous story about Franklin flying a kite in a storm to prove that lightning was an electrical phenomenon.

Mermaids are creatures of folklore typically associated with watery disasters. This comic plays with the assumption that the mermaids are really trying to help sailors rather than harm them.
